Using the Web Updater to update the Bluetooth Module

Bluetooth Module Firmware Recovery (Version shows 0.0.0)

If your Bluetooth Module is not functioning and the Bluetooth version displays 0.0.0, the module firmware may need to be reinstalled.

Before You Begin

  • You will need to remove the backplate to access the internal USB-C port used for updating the Bluetooth Module.

  • A USB 2.0 connection may be required for the update process (see note below).

**Windows Users **
You may need to install the USB-to-Serial driver before proceeding.
Download and install the CP210x Universal Windows Driver from Silicon Labs:
https://www.silabs.com/software-and-tools/usb-to-uart-bridge-vcp-drivers?tab=downloads

Firmware Update Steps

  1. Open the Bluetooth firmware web updater:

⚠️ The web updater may not work reliably with native USB 3.0 ports. If your computer only has USB 3.0 ports, you can use a USB 2.0 dongle or hub connected to the USB 3.0 port. This is not necessary - only something to try if you are not able to connect.

  1. Download the latest Bluetooth firmware from https://firmware.morningstar.io

  1. Connect the internal USB-C port to your computer and click Connect to Device on the web updater.

If the default 921600 baud rate does not connect, try refreshing the app and then select the 115200 baud rate.

  1. Once connected successfully:
    • Select the firmware file you downloaded
    • Click Upload to flash the firmware to the Bluetooth Module

  1. Wait for the process to complete, then disconnect and reassemble the unit.
