Using the Web Updater to update the Bluetooth Module
Bluetooth Module Firmware Recovery (Version shows 0.0.0)
If your Bluetooth Module is not functioning and the Bluetooth version displays 0.0.0, the module firmware may need to be reinstalled.
Before You Begin
- You will need to remove the backplate to access the internal USB-C port used for updating the Bluetooth Module.

- A USB 2.0 connection may be required for the update process (see note below).
**Windows Users **
You may need to install the USB-to-Serial driver before proceeding.
Download and install the CP210x Universal Windows Driver from Silicon Labs:
https://www.silabs.com/software-and-tools/usb-to-uart-bridge-vcp-drivers?tab=downloads
Firmware Update Steps
- Open the Bluetooth firmware web updater:
- Download the latest Bluetooth firmware from https://firmware.morningstar.io
- Connect the internal USB-C port to your computer and click Connect to Device on the web updater.
- Once connected successfully:
- Select the firmware file you downloaded
- Click Upload to flash the firmware to the Bluetooth Module
- Wait for the process to complete, then disconnect and reassemble the unit.
Troubleshooting connection issues with the Updater
If the web updater fails to connect, you may need to use a pair of metal tweezers, for example, to short 2 points on the board before connecting.
- The symptom is the failure to connect to the Bluetooth module with the error below

- The part C10 needs to be shorted by a pair of metal tweezers or anything metal.

- While the points are being shorted, click on Connect in the updater and the connection should be successful.
