Patch Share – Share and Discover Community Presets
Patch Share is a feature in the Morningstar Editor that allows users to upload, browse, and download preset and bank files created by the Morningstar community. It’s a fast way to discover controller setups for specific pedals, amps, loopers, synths, and workflows — or to share your own creations with other users.

What is Patch Share?
Patch Share is a community-driven library of Morningstar patches.
Users can:
- Upload presets or banks they’ve created
- Browse patches uploaded by other users
- Search by pedal brand, model, or tags
- Download JSON files and import them into the Morningstar Editor
- Learn new ways to control MIDI devices
Patch Share currently supports sharing:
- Individual Presets
- Entire Banks
Requirements
Before using Patch Share, make sure you have:
- A Morningstar account
- The latest Morningstar Editor
- A compatible browser (Chrome, Brave, or Opera recommended for Web MIDI support)
Accessing Patch Share
From the Editor
- Open the Morningstar Editor
- Navigate to:
Select App→Patch Share- or visit the direct URL: Patch Share Direct URL
Browsing Patches
The Patch Share homepage displays community uploads.
You can:
- Browse all patches
- Search for specific gear
- Filter by tags
- View patch descriptions
- Download patch files

Many users upload patches designed around real-world performance workflows, making Patch Share a useful learning resource as well as a preset library.
Uploading a Patch
Step 1 – Sign In
You must be signed into your Morningstar account before uploading patches.
Step 2 – Export Your Preset or Bank
From the Editor:
To Export a Preset
- Open the desired preset
- Use the preset tools menu
- Select:
Save Preset to File
To Export a Bank
- Open the bank
- Select:
Save Bank to File
This creates a .json file which can be uploaded to Patch Share.
Step 3 – Upload to Patch Share
On the Patch Share page:
- Click Upload Patch
- Enter:
- Patch name
- Description
- Device brand
- Device model
- Tags
- Select your exported
.jsonfile - Click Upload Patch
Once uploaded, your patch becomes searchable by the community.
Downloading and Using Shared Patches
Step 1 – Download a Patch
Browse Patch Share and download a .json file.
Step 2 – Import into the Editor
In the Morningstar Editor:
Import a Preset
- Use
Load Preset from File
Import a Bank
- Go to the Controller Backup tab to upload a Bank file
The patch can then be edited, customized, and saved to your controller.
Tips for Better Shared Patches
When uploading patches, include:
- Clear naming
- The target device model
- Firmware requirements
- MIDI channel information
- Usage notes
- Required controller settings
Good descriptions make it much easier for other users to understand and adapt your setup.
Common Questions
Can I edit downloaded patches?
Yes. Downloaded patches behave exactly like normal presets and can be modified freely in the Editor.
Can I upload patches from different profiles?
Yes. Patch Share uploads are based on exported JSON files, not editor profiles.
Are patches firmware dependent?
Some patches may require newer firmware versions or specific controller features. Always check the description and ensure your Editor and firmware are up to date.
Troubleshooting
Editor Connection Issues
If your controller is not detected:
- Refresh the MIDI device list
- Enable Web MIDI permissions
- Use Chrome, Brave, or Opera
- Update to the latest Editor version
